Education Adds Dignity To Life: Minister

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Augst,2016) : Provincial Population Minister Zakia Shahnawaz Khan said on Thursday that a massive job had to be done in different sectors and collective efforts required to manage things. Addressing the event of USAID's Small Grants and Ambassador's Fund Programme in Punjab at a hotel, she said credit went to Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif who was working day and night and wanted to bring progress and prosperity in lives of the masses. She said the government was taking steps to ensure enrolment of out of school children adding that if children would go to schools it would not only yield positive results in their lives but would enable them to contribute in the development of the country in a more effective manner. "education is the only tool which brings about a change besides adding dignity to life", she added.
Acting US Consul General in Lahore Deborah Robinson said: "From supporting children's literacy to providing basic health facilities for mothers and children, to imparting vocational skills, the programme has made a remarkable transformation in the lives of over 370,000 people across Punjab, including 160,000 women, since it started in 2010". It is pertinent to mention here that the achievements of the Small Grants and Ambassador's Fund Programme funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The event included grant signing ceremony to launch three new projects in Punjab under Small Grants and Ambassador's Fund Program and the agreements in this regard were signed with Women in Struggle for Empowerment (WISE), Bali Memorial Trust and National Initiative for Marginalized Segments Foundation.
