Children Hospital's New Block To Be Operational Next Week

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th August, 2016) : The new extension block of Children hospital, Lahore has been completed which will become operational during the next week. Talking to APP here on Wednesday, Institute of Child Health and Children's Hospital Dean Prof Dr Masood Sadiq said that the capacity of new block had been increased from 250 to 684 beds. He said the work of the block was in final stage which had been completed at a cost of Rs 3.75 billion.

Masood Sadiq said that modern medical equipments, bio- medical instruments and other machinery have been installed in the new block. The process of recruitment of doctors and other supporting staff had already been completed, he added. Dr Masood Sadiq said the facility of 16 state-of-the-art operation theatres had been provided to the new block.

He said that after functioning of the extended block of the hospital, medical treatment facilities for children would be enhanced manifold, adding that 16 operation theatres would also help reduce the waiting list of procedures.

Dr Masood Sadiq said that Paediatric Cancer Unit of Children Hospital was also being upgraded for which the government had released funds of Rs 230 million. He said the chief minister was likely to be invited to inaugurate the extended block of the Children's Hospital. Following the instcutions of the Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the officials concerned had shifted the system of the hospital on modern lines, he added.
