Cocacola Sindh Open Golf To Tee Off From Friday

KARACHI,(APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Augst,2016) ; The 18th Sindh CocaCola Open Golf Championship will tee off here at the lush green picturesque Arabian Sea Country Club from Friday (August 19).
The was announced by Asad I.A Khan, President of Sindh Golf Association in a press conference flanked by Arif Ali Khan Abbasi, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Arabian Sea Country Club on Wednesday. The three round event will be played over 54 holes with the cut coming at the end of the second round. The 3-day championship, Khan said carrying Rs 3 million prize money besides additional attraction for both the pros and the amateur golfers.
This prize money is being offered by Sindh Golf Association, he added. Khan said that the event an annual feature, offers for the winner in the main professional, senior professional the junior professional and the mature a Yamaha motor cycle besides cash and other prizes from different sponsors.
Hole-one winner will get Suzuki car, he added. The main professional and the armature events will be contested over 54 holes and senior professional and junior professional to be played over 36 holes, he said.
However, Junior Amateur event will be held subject to a minimum entry of 8 players.
Golf is fast growing sports in Pakistan Khan said adding it was evident that recently three major golf tournaments took place in Karachi where there are six Golf courses. Shabbir Iqbal who won the main event last year will be facing tough challenge from other leading golfers Muhammed Munir, Matloob Ahmed, Waheed Baloch, Shafiq Masih and a number of other top professional who have already assembled here for the championship. Arif Ali Abbasi speaking on the occasion thanked the media for taking keen interest in reporting sports activities specially Golf. He lauded ptv Sports for encouraging golf for covering live all the three-day events of the championship. To a question, Abbasi said that we have all kind of facilities for international golfers, what needed are sufficient amount of finances for inviting international reputed golfers in Pakistan. The press conference was also attended by Mohammad Usman Territory Commercial Manager Coca Cola, Mehak Ali of Yamaha General Motors besides representatives from sponsors included Pak Suzuki, Jubilee General Insurance, Avery scale and others.
