Tehsil Jamrud Win PA Khyber Archery Championship Trophy

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Augst,2016) : Tehsil Jamrud Khyber Agency team clinched the trophy of the Political Agent Khyber Agency Archery Championship played at Jamrud sports Complex ground on Wednesday. The winning team secured 120 points by taking first position, Landikotal Tehsil recorded 90 points and got second position, followed by Tehsil Baba with 65 points. Coach of the national team Asghar Khan, Secretary FATA Archery Association Manzoor Afridi, Hayat Khan of Directorate of Sports FATA, players and officials were also present on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Mansoor Afridi lauded PA Khyber Captain (Retd) Khalid Mehmood for extending all out support to the association for organizing the event.
He said Archery was gaining roots among tribal youth, adding three tehsils of Khyber Agency took part in the championship comprising Bara tehsil, Landikotal and Jamrud. A total of 42 players from the Khyber Agency took part in the event organized according to the game rules wherein each of the archers targeted from the 30 as well as 70m. Jamrud took four gold medals, five silver and three bronze medals by securing 120 points, followed by Landikotal Tehsil with three gold medals, four silver and five bronze medals by recording 90 points and Bara with two gold medals, four silvers medals and five bronze medals and got 65 points. At the end, the chief guest gave away trophies and cash prizes to the position holders.
