Five More Protesters Including Boy Killed In IOK

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Augst,2016) : Five civilians including a boy were killed and several others injured due to the firing of Indian forces on peaceful protesters in Srinagar and Budgam districts. Four civilians were killed and over a dozen wounded when Indian police and troops opened fire on protesters at Aripanthan in Beerwah area of Budgam district, KMS reported. A 10th class student, Muhammad Yasir Sheikh, was killed after Indian police directly fired upon demonstrators in Batamaloo area of Srinagar. With these killings, the death toll in the ongoing Kashmir Intifada has risen to 79.
The intifada was triggered by the extra-judicial killing of the top commander of Hizbul Mujahideen, Burhan Wani, on July 8, this year. Besides killing of 79 people, over 8,000 people have been injured so far due to the firing of pellets, bullets and teargas shells by Indian troops and police personnel on peaceful protesters across the Kashmir Valley.
Meanwhile, the puppet authorities continue to impose curfew and other restrictions for the 39th consecutive day, today, across the territory to prevent people from staging demonstrations against the civilian killings. Almost all Hurriyet leaders including the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Agha Syed Hassan Al- Moosvi Al-Safvi, Bilal Siddiqui, Zafar Akbar Butt and Muhammad Rafiq Ganai have been put under house arrest or behind the bars to prevent them from leading the demonstrations.
