17 Killed, 1,078 Injured In 838 Accidents On Aug 14

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th August, 2016) : Director General (DG) Rescue 1122 Dr Arshad Zia reviewed emergencies data regarding the Independence Day, showing that victims of 838 road accidents were rescued by the emergency service in the province on August 14.
Some 17 people were killed, while 664 sustained serious injuries in these accidents. As many as 467 drivers, 32 juvenile drivers, 133 pedestrians and 495 passengers were among the victims of the accidents.
The data of Provincial Monitoring Cell (PMC) revealed that 1,095 people and 1,106 vehicles were affected in road crashes.
The vehicles included 734 motorcycles, 125 rickshaws, 94 cars, 35 vans, seven buses, 23 trucks and 88 other vehicles and slow-moving carts.
The statistics showed 172 road crashes were reported in the city affecting 196 persons placing the provincial capital at top of the list, followed by 86 accidents in Faisalabad with 117 victims and Multan remained at third with 57 accidents and 71 victims. The DG Rescue 1122 congratulated all officers of the districts on successful completion of the medical cover on Independence Day.
