Enhancing Capacity Of Mines Workers A Priority Of Govt

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th August, 2016) : Enhancing capacity of mine workers to promote mines and minerals exploration activities is a priority of the government. Series of programmes have been initiated with the allocation of huge amount of money for this purpose, a senior official of the Punjab Mines and Minerals Department told APP, here on Monday. He said that Short Term Skills Development Project under Chief Minister Skills Development Initiative is being completed with a total cost of Rs 160.612 million. Rehabilitation of Training for Mine Supervisors and Mining Technicians at Katas, Choa Sadan Shah and Chakwal will be completed with the total cost of Rs 90.

Latest study courses have also been launched for the students, he said. These include admissions to 141 students for three years diploma programme in Punjab school of Mines Katas, he added. In addition to it, 48 students have been given admissions for a two years certificate courses in Mines Survey Institute Makarwal.
He said that strengthening work of Mine Sample Testing Laboratory Khushab will be done at a cost of Rs 80.682 million. The official said that several other such initiatives are also being taken in line with the policy of the government to provide latest knowledge and training in this regard.
