Thai King Visits Families Of Victims Of Deadly Nursery Shooting - Gov't

BANGKOK (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 08th October, 2022) King of Thailand Maha Vajiralongkorn and his wife, Thai Queen Suthida, visited the families of the victims of the deadly nursery shooting in Thailand's northeastern province of Nong Bua Lam Phu, the Thai Public Relations Department said on Friday.

"Their Majesties arrived in Nong Bua Lam Phu Province and met with the families of the dead and injured to give them moral support in person," the department said in a statement.

According to the department's earlier statement, the King pledged to cover all the expenses for the treatment of those injured in the shooting, and raised the status of the mourning ceremonies for all those killed to the rank of a funeral sponsored by the monarch.

The funeral sponsored by the Thai monarch represents the special status of the dead, for which the head of state and the entire Thai people mourn.

On Thursday, a gunman, identified as former Thai police officer Panya Khamrab, broke into a nursery in the northeastern Thai province of Nong Bua Lam Phu. According to the recent data, he killed 38 people, including 22 children. He then returned home and shot his wife and their young child before killing himself. According to the police, Khamrab was under the influence of drugs.
