Cell Phone Apps To Be Used To Monitor Health Activities: Minister

KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Augst,2016) : Minister Health Sindh Dr Sikandar Mandharo convened a meeting on Monday to develop an initiative to use mobile phone technology to improve governance and accountability of the field force including vaccinators, lady health workers and other staff. Series of meeting were conducted with the relevant experts including the teams of Aga Khan Development Network e-Health Resource Centre and the Indus Hospital, said a statement. The Minister Health said that it is fascinating to use technology in health sector; I am hopeful that immunization and prevention of diseases will improve significantly. He also indicated that the hospital staff including the doctors and the other human resource under Sindh health department are required to be monitored and made accountable.
The Indus hospital team lead by Dr Akhtar Aziz also presented their inputs for smart phone monitoring and the use of QR codes on health cards to detect the history of patients through the data server. The Minister asked both teams to submit the final proposals. He assured that the health department will implement the final proposal within a month. The Health Minister directed the department to conclude recommendations and take decision to implement the smart phone monitoring system as soon as possible. The meeting was also attended by Secretary health Ahmed Bux Narejo, Director General health Sindh, Dr Hassan Murad shah, Director PPI unit Dr Ahsaan and others.
