Pakistan May Rise To Number One In Test Rankings

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Augst,2016) : Pakistan Cricket team is all set to rise to number one ranking in Tests if the results in Sri Lanka and West Indies series go their way.
Pakistan went to England tour as the number third team in the ICC Test rankings but after Sunday's win in the fourth and final Test they have a chance to claim number one slot if results in Sri Lanka and the West Indies go in their favour. If Sri Lanka and West Indies either manage to draw or win their respective Tests against Australia and India, Pakistan will become number one team.
If that happens it will be for the first time they will be at the top since the ICC introduced official rankings' system in 2003.
Pakistan's performance in Tests has been more impressive as compared to other cricket playing nations as they have not played a Test series at home since 2009, when Sri Lankan team was attacked in Lahore.
Since then, they have been playing their home series away at the United Arab Emirates. But despite emerging victorious in the UAE, they lacked the passionate support, which they might get at home. Meanwhile, the defeat against Pakistan has also ended England's hopes to climb to top of the standings, at least for the time being.
