WR, Faith Friends For Peace Holds Function In Connection With Independence Day

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th August, 2016) : World Relief (WR) in collaboration with Faith Friends for Peace KP, an interfaith promoting network here Saturday arranged a colorful function in connection with Independence Day celebrations. The function that was arranged at Diocese Church of Peshawar was participated in by various minority groups and large number of Muslims.
The event was aimed to recall sacrifices of Muslims of the subcontinent for the motherland and renew pledge to work for the prosperity and development irrespective of caste, creed or religion. Speech completion was also held on the occasion followed by national anthem and patriotic songs that were sung by students.
Guests also prayed for the sovereignty and establishment of lasting peace in the country. Â Â Â Speaking on the occasion, Bishop Humphrey Sarfaraz Peter said that day reminds us of the matchless sacrifices rendered by our forefathers for the motherland.
He said that all the communities, smaller or greater join hands and work to make Pakistan prosperous and make it safe for coming generations adding objective can only be achieved by promoting interfaith harmony and tolerance among the communities residing in the country. District Nazim, Syed Qasim Ali who was Chief Guest on the occasion, said it is imperative for us to work hard and shun differences for greater Pakistan that was carved out of subcontinent by unprecedented efforts and struggle of our leaders. He said that religion should not be a limitation for Muslims and minority groups to unite and work for advancement of the country and betterment of its people.
