Proposals For Modernizing WS&S In 10 Days

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th August, 2016) : Punjab Planning & Development (P&D) Board has decided to focus on modernization of Water Supply & Sanitation (WS&S) sector in the province. Task has been assigned to Member Services Infrastructure P&D, CEO Urban Unit, Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), WASAs, TMAs, Local Government and Community Development Department (LG&CDD) to jointly discuss the whole situation of WS&S in detail and propose tangible and actionable solutions within ten days for further decision and implementation, a senior official of P&D told APP here on Saturday. He said that executing department would design projects on new lines by adopting modern & sustainable practices.
He said that provision of quality & sustainable service delivery in the field of Water Supply & Sanitation Sector was priority of the Punjab government.
Adoption of the best sustainable practices would result in the increase of cost of projects, he said. The P&D can not persist with old practices just due to fear of increase in the cost of projects, he added. He also observed that due to adoption of new and modern technology the scheme of Water Supply, Sewerage and Drainage could be executed speedily.
The P&D board wants optimal solutions and use of latest technology so that the problems related to WS&S could be resolved on a permanent basis, the official said.
