JOHANNESBURG, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th August, 2016) - Title-holders Etoile Sahel of Tunisia triumphed at home and FUS Rabat of Morocco drew away Saturday to secure CAF Confederation Cup semi-finals places.
TP Mazembe of the Democratic Republic of Congo booked a last-four place in the previous round, leaving Medeama of Ghana and Mouloudia Bejaia of Algeria to contest the remaining place. FUS, shock 2010 winners of the second-tier African club football competition, drew 1-1 with bottom-of-the-table Al Ahly Tripoli of Libya in a game switched to Tunis for security reasons.
Gambian Youssoupha Njie gave the Rabat outfit a second-half lead that was cancelled by Rabie Allafi 10 minutes later to end a run of four straight Ahly losses. Etoile, who beat Orlando Pirates of South Africa to lift the trophy last year, continued a remarkable turnaround in the same group by defeating Kawkab Marrakech of Morocco 3-1 in Mediterranean resort Sousse.
Trailing Kawkab by five points after two Group B matchdays, Etoile have won three consecutive games to take an unassailable four-point lead over Moroccans suffering a third straight loss .
