River Indus Continues To Flow In Low Flood

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Augst,2016) : The Federal Flood Commission (FFC) has said that the River Indus at Kalabagh, Chashma, Taunsa and Guddu Barrage are flowing in Low Flood.
According to daily FFC report, other main rivers including Rivers Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej are flowing normal. The river flows and reservoir elevations indicates that Tarbela and Mangla reservoirs are at elevations of 1534.40 feet and 1240.80 feet respectively, which are 15.60 feet & 1.20 feet below their respective Maximum Conservation Levels of 1550.00 feet and 1242.00 feet.
The combined live storage capacity of Tarbela, Chashma & Mangla reservoirs is 12.965 MAF as compared to last year’s 13.660 MAF. The Dam Management Authorities are advised to take utmost care and vigilance in operation and strictly follow SOPs and safety guidelines.
According to Flood Forecasting Division, Lahore, yesterday's Depression over Behar (India) & adjoining Jharkand (India) has moved slightly North-westwards and lies over Behar (India) as well marked Low.
Yesterday’s trough of Westerly Wave over Kashmir and adjoining areas has moved away. Seasonal Low continues to prevail over Northern Balochistan. As forecast by the Flood Forecasting Division, Lahore, isolated thunderstorm/ rain is expected over the upper catchments of all major Rivers including Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Lahore & Bahawalpur Divisions, besides, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Peshawar, Kohat and D.I Khan Divisions) and Northeastern Balochistan during the next 24 hours.
Significant rainfall events reported by the Flood Forecasting Division, Lahore during the past 24 hours, include; Barkhan = 36 mm, Shorkot = 30 mm, D.G. Khan (City = 20 mm & Zain Sanghar = 18 mm) and Lahore (City = 13 mm & Luckshmi = 12 mm).
