Seven-member Gang Of Newborns' Abductors Busted

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Augst,2016) : The district police on Friday claimed to have busted seven-member gang including males and females who were involved in heinous crime of abducting newborns from hospitals and later selling them. In a major breakthrough, Peshawar police arrested the seven-member of the gang including two men and five women, police said adding the suspected abductors were involved in kidnapping the newborns from hospitals and maternity homes across the city and selling them for a price ranging between Rs 70,000 to 300,000. It said that the group used to allegedly handover dead newborn babies to parents instead of their own child in connivance with the hospital administrations and abduct their baby and sale it for money. Among the gang members, the women were identified as nurses and Lady Health Workers, the police said adding that raids are being conducted for the arrest of the remaining members of the gang while police also managed to rescue an already abducted baby girl from custody of the gang.
A female abductor Wajeeha Yasmeen alias Jia informed the police that she had kidnapped a newborn baby to deliver to a person Nadir Shah for Rs 300,000 and handed the child over to another lady Musarrat until the payment is made. The Jia disclosed the Names of other gang members that led to the arrest of the seven gang members, police said, adding the cases of newborns abduction were frequently being reported from different hospitals and maternity homes of the district. The arrest of the gang members could be made after SSP Operations Abbas Majeed Khan Marwat took notice of the issue and formed a team to trace out the persons involved in the heinous crime. The team taking action on a tip-off received to SHO East Inspector Malik Habib arrested a lady identified as Wajeeha who disclosed names of the other gang members during the investigation.
