HYDERABAD, (Pakistan Point News - APP - 12th Augst,2016) - The management of University of Sindh Jamshoro in collaboration with Sindh Forest Department Friday organized plantation awareness walk and plantation campaign to celebrate plantation awareness day at its premises. Hundreds of teachers, officers, employees, students and community representatives, who had gathered to be part of this event, carried out awareness walk from mausoleum of Allama I.
I. Kazi to the university's Central library. The walk was jointly led by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro, Vice-Chancellor, University of Sindh and Habibullah Nizamani Chief Conservative Sindh Forest Department. Later, the Vice Chancellor inaugurated tree plantation by planting a sapling at the premises of Central Library. The Vice-Chancellor while elaborating the importance of this occasion remarked that trees and plants served as a lifeline for a healthy and hygienic environment.
He maintained that University of Sindh was lucky to have rustic, natural, bucolic and pastoral setting. It was therefore their duty to conserve and preserve the original splendour of the campus. He clarified the misperception that the trees were being cut at the campus adding that the university would never indulge in such barbaric undertaking. He explained that only those trees were being removed that had gone completely rotten.
He informed that those dried up trees were being replaced by fresh, weather-friendly and outdoor-efficient ones. The others who planted saplings on this occasion included Pro-Vice Chancellors Prof. Dr. Sarfaraz Hussain Solangi and Prof. Dr. Noor Muhammad Jamali, Registrar Ghulam Muhammad Bhutto, Controller of Examinations (Annual) Ghulam Murtaza Siyal, Incharge Plantation Mahar Ali Kazi and Chief Conservator Sindh Habibullah Nizamani.
