Bill For Protecting Media Persons To Be Tabled In NA Soon: Ayaz

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Augst,2016) : Speaker National Assembly (NA) Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that a draft bill for protecting media persons would be tabled in NA soon. Addressing a condolence reference held for the martyred cameramen in Quetta incident here at Parliament House, he said It was a very painful incident. Speaker said that he will request the Prime Minister to set up endowment fund for the welfare of journalist and their families. He said there will be a committee having the representation of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and media organizations. He said that media had rendered sacrifices for the sake of democracy and development of the country, adding that there should be insurance for the media persons and he will ask State Life to make a special package in this regard.
Ayaz Sadiq said media should play responsible role, adding that news should be based on evidence.
Speaker NA extends his full support to the media community at every forum. The gathering offered Fateha for the departed souls of Quetta blasts. Acting Secretary Ministry of Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Saba Mohsin said that the ministry was taking measures for the welfare of the media persons.
