Rain likely at few places: PMD

ISLAMABAD,(UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Augst,2016) : Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) Friday forecast rain-thunderstorm for isolated places in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, FATA, Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan during next 24 hours. The synoptic situation says that seasonal low was lying over north Balochistan.

Weak monsoon currents were penetrating upper parts of the country. A shallow westerly wave was still affecting upper parts of the country and likely to affect during next two days. The met office indicated chances of rain-thunderstorm specifically in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Lahore, Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Mardan, Kohat and Bannu divisions.

Mainly hot and humid weather is expected in most parts of the country during the next 24 hours.

The rainfall recorded during the last 24 hours was Khyber Pakhtunkhwa; Balakot 62 mm, Dera Ismail Khan 41, Malamjabba 26, Kohat 09, Dir 08, Parachinar 02, Kakul, Pattan, Saidu Sharif, Cherat 01; Punjab: Bahawalnagar 37, Bhakkar 30, Kasur 28, Murree 18, Layyah 10, Kamra 02, Noorpurthal 01; Kashmir: Muzaffarabad 10, Kotli 06, Garhi Dupatta 02; Gilgit-Baltistan: Bunji, Gilgit 03, Bagrote 02, Chillas and Gupis 01 mm. The maximum highest temperatures recorded during the last 24 hours was Turbat, Nokkundi 44 C, Dalbandin 42 C, Rahim Yar Khan, Dadu and Larkana 40 C.
