Rivers Inuds, Kabul Run In Low Flood

ISLAMABAD,(UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Augst,2016) : The Federal Flood Commission (FFC) has said River Indus at Kalabagh, Chashma & Taunsa Barrage and River Kabul at Warsak are flowing in Low Flood.
According to daily FFC report, other main rivers including Rivers Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi & Sutlej are flowing normal. The river flows and reservoir elevations indicates that Tarbela & Mangla reservoirs are at elevations of 1533.15 feet and 1240.30 feet respectively, which are 16.85 feet & 1.70 feet below their respective Maximum Conservation Levels of 1550.00 feet and 1242.00 feet.
The combined live storage capacity of Tarbela, Chashma & Mangla reservoirs is 12.855 MAF as compared to last year's 13.637 MAF. The Dam Management Authorities are advised to take utmost care and vigilance in operation and strictly follow SOPs and safety guidelines. According to Flood Forecasting Division, Lahore, yesterday's Depression over Western Bengal has moved Westwards and today lies over Jharkand (India).
Yesterday's trough of Westerly Wave continues to prevail over Kashmir and adjoining areas. Seasonal Low still persists over Northern Balochistan. Weak moist current is penetrating into upper parts of the country upto 2000 feet.
As predicted by the Flood Forecasting Division, Lahore, isolated thunderstorm/rain is expected over the upper catchments of all major Rivers including Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Lahore & Bahawalpur Divisions, besides, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Peshawar, Kohat and D.I Khan Divisions) and Northeastern Balochistan during the next 24 hours. Significant rainfall events reported by the Flood Forecasting Division, Lahore during the past 24 hours, include; Balakot = 61 mm, D.I.
Khan = 41 mm, Bahawalnagar = 37 mm, Daggar = 33 mm, Bhakkar & Kotli = 30 mm each, Kasur = 28 mm, Malamjabba = 26 mm, Phulra = 25 mm, Tarbela = 22 mm, Murree & Oghi = 18 mm each, Besham = 14 mm, Tanda Dam = 12 mm, Muzaffarabad, Domel & Layyah = 10 mm each.
