SBP Organizes Four Independence Day Sports Competitions

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th August, 2016) : Sports board Punjab (SBP), on Thursday, organized four sports competitions including tug-of-war, weightlifting, powerlifting and arm-wrestling in connection with Independence Day celebrations at Nishtar Park Sports Complex Gymnasium Hall here. The Independence Day male and female sports competitions were being organised under the directives of Secretary Sports Punjab Nayyar Iqbal. Director Admin SBP Muhammad Anees Sheikh, Deputy Director Admin Tariq Wattoo, Assistant Directors Rana Nadeem Anjum, Waqas Akbar and a large number of sports enthusiasts were present to cheer the young players. Talking to media Director Admin SBP Anees Sheikh appreciated the fighting skills of young athletes.
"These talented players have bright future ahead and will prove to be an asset in their respective games in the years to come," he added. Anees Sheikh said Sports Board Punjab, as per its tradition, will continue to provide platform to potential players of the country so that they can earn good name for their country in the future international sports events. Later, Director Admin SBP Muhammad Anees Sheikh, Deputy Director Admin Tariq Wattoo, Assistant Directors Rana Nadeem Anjum, Waqas Akbar, Incharge Media Cell Abdul Rauf Roofi distributed prizes among the winners of different categories.
In girls weightlifting event, Pak Greens won the contest by lifting 575kg weight.
Pak Whites remained runners up with 525kg weightlifting. Neelam Riaz was declared best player. In the boys event, Quaid-e-Azam team grabbed the title with 960kg weight while Allama Iqbal players finished second with 915kg weight.
Salman Aqeel Butt was adjudged best player. Following are the winners in arm-wrestling competition: Girls: Atubah Saleem, Zarah Iqbal, Amta Saleem, Zobia Ghulam Hussain, Hafia, Iqra, Amna Raheel won their matches.
Boys: Madikh Butt, Tauseef, Ali Hassan, Hamid, Usama, Ahsan, Shehroz, Adeel, Wasif, Shahid, Kamran. In the tug-of-war contest, Pakistan Greens women and men teams emerged winners against Pakistan Whites teams after thrilling competition. In powerlifting competition, Pakistan Greens women and men teams also stamped their superiority and won their match quite comfortably.
In women event, Pak Greens players lifted 560 kg weight as against 550kg by Pak Whites girls. The boys of Pakistan lifted 770 kg mass to clinch the title against Pak Whites whose players could lift 690 weight.
