PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th August, 2016) : A 15-day Abdul Sattar Edhi Tennis Camp concluded simultaneously at Peshawar Services Club and Qayyum sports Complex with top 46 players including four female players in seven different categories gone through rigorous training under qualified coaches. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister Sports Mehmood Khan was the chief guest on this occasion who gave away trophies, cash prizes and certificates to the position holders and those excel during the 15-day camp. Tahir Khan disclosed that the four female tennis players including 46 probables got training under qualified coaches comprising Roman Gul, Janan Khan, Shahid Afridi, Mehmood Khan, Inam Ullah and Israr Gul. He said as desired by President Pakistan Tennis Federation and senior parliamentarian Salim Saif Ullah Khan, the KP Tennis Association organized the camp in a befitting manners in different age groups and categories including Under-10, Under-12, Under-14, Under-16, Under-18, Men Singles and Ladies Singles.
He said currently, the position of the players hailing from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is par excellent in various categories at national level and looking after such performance of the players SNGP, Wapda and PIA have enrolled our players either on contract basis or on month stipend. He said in Under-10 Hamid Israr, Hamza Roman, Under-12 Kashan Umar and Obaid Ullah, Under-14 Shoaib Khan, Aqib Umar, Under-16 Yousaf Khan and Yasir Khan, Under-18 Barkat Ullah and Saqib Umar, and in Men singles Shahid Afridi, Ijaz Umar, Shaheen Mehmood and Abbas Khan, female players comprising Benish Khan, Usmania, Anum, Madiha are the top players in the national ranking.
He disclosed that they organized the camp in two different venues Peshawar Services Club and Qayyum Sports Complex. Speaking on this occasion, Minister Sports KP Mehmood Khan lauded the efforts being made for the promotion of Tennis in KP and assured that all out efforts would be made on the part of the government.
He said currently constructions of 10 courts are in progress in KP. He also announced Rs. 10,000 for each of the players currently in the national ranking and one Tennis graphed racket. He assured that in the existing facilities more tennis courts would be developed at district level so that more talent could come up.
