Azadi Train symbol of national unity: Pervaiz Rashid

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th August, 2016) : Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid said on Thursday that Azadi Train is a symbol of national unity which depicts the past, present and future of the country. Addressing the launching ceremony of the Azadi Train along with Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafiq and Adviser to the Prime Minister for National History and Literary Heritage Irfan Siddiqui, the minister said that the train would inform the new generation especially students about the achievements made by Pakistan. He said that through the gallery of historic pictures, the new generation would learn how Muslims of the sub-continent struggled under the leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah for achievement of Pakistan. The floats made part of the train depicts how the brave soldiers of Pakistan Armed Forces fought against the enemy to thwart its nefarious designs and defend the motherland, the Minister said. The Azadi train will also depict fight against terrorism and extremism to eliminate this scrounge from the society, he remarked.

The train will also update the masses about the steps taken for progress and development of the country, he added. He said once the Railways was considered a sick organization but due to efforts of its Minister Saad Rafiq and the railways officials and staff it has shown great turn around. He also congratulated the Paksitan Railways' minister and staff over preparation of this great Azadi Train on behalf of the government and the Prime Minister. According to details the Azadi Train started one-month country-wide journey from Margalla Station Islamabad alongwith floats of different aspects of Pakistan's culture which will highlight sacrifices of heroes of the independence movement and armed forces for the country's defence.

After performing formal inauguration of the Azadi train by cutting ribbon the ministers and adviser to Prime Minister visited various galleries of the train and also inspected the floats.
