PEC (Amendment) Bill, 2016 Sails Through NA Smoothly

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Augst,2016) : The National Assembly on Thursday passed the Pakistan Engineering Council (Amendment) Bill, 2016 aimed at providing legal cover to the inclusion of the Engineer-in-Chief, Pakistan Army to the governing body of Pakistan Engineering Council. Minister for Science and Technology Rana Tanveer Hussain moved the bill further to amend the Pakistan Engineering Council Act, 1976 [The Pakistan Engineering Council (Amendment) Bill, 2016 in the House as reported by the Standing Committee. The Statement of Objects and Reasons of the bill says the Pakistan Engineering Council (Amendment) Act was notified on 24th January, 2011.
The President's Secretariat (Public) through Prime Minister's Secretariat (Public) observed that the Engineer-in-Chief Pakistan Army may also be included as a member of the Governing Body of the Pakistan Engineering Council in order to give representation to the large number of engineers working in the Armed Forces etc.
The PEC also agreed that the Engineer-in-Chief, Pakistan Army should be member of the Governing Body. The proposed bill will provide legal cover to the inclusion of the Engineer-in-Chief, Pakistan Army to the Governing Body of PEC.
