7 Injured As Blast Hit Quetta Police, Says Home Minister

QUETTA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Augst,2016) : At least seven people including five police personnel were injured when a remote-controlled bomb blast hit them on Zarghoon road, here on Thursday, Home Minister, Mir Sarfaraz Bugti confirmed.
The Home Minister said that vehicles of a judge and police were passing through the area when a bomb planted on roadside was detonated by a remote control which hit the police vehicle. "The police vehicle was targeted in the blast," he said, adding that three to four kg explosives was used in the explosion, he said. Minister Bugti said that the militants wanted to damage Pakistan Independence Day celebrations and added that their nefarious designs would be foiled.
The police sources said that unknown armed men planted remotely-controlled Improvised Explosive Device (IED) on roadside near Sariab bridge on Zarghoon road and detonated it when the vehicle of a police escorting a judge's vehicle was passing by.
"Resultantly, seven people among them five police personnel and two passersby suffered injuries," they said. The rescue teams rushed to the scene and shifted the injured to Civil hospital.The law enforcement agencies including the Frontier Corps and Police have cordoned off the entire area to trace the suspects. Further probe was underway.
