Independence Day sports events in full swing

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th August, 2016) :- Sports board Punjab on Wednesday hosted girls and boys badminton and table tennis singles and doubles competitions as a part of Independence Day celebrations at Nishter park sports complex gymnasium hall here. Managing Director Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) Ahmer Malik was the chief guest on the occasion.

Former Hockey Olympian Kh Junaid, Director Admin SBP Muhammad Anees Sheikh, Deputy Director Admin Tariq Wattoo, Assistant Directors Rana NadeemAnjum and Waqas Akbar were also present. Earlier, Sports Board Punjab officials received the chief guest upon his arrival at the venue.

The chief guest was also introduced with participating players. Talking to media, Managing Director (TDCP) appreciated Sports Board Punjab's efforts made for the promotion of sports. Malik also lauded the hard work and commitment of former Director General Sports Punjab Usman Anwar for creating sports infrastructure in the Punjab province.

He was quite impressed by the sports skills of young badminton and table tennis players. Former Olympian Kh Junaid also spoke on the occasion and said there is no doubt about the talent in Pakistan.

"We just need to provide our talented youth a suitable platform to groom their potential besides putting a fair and merit-oriented efforts," he added.
