Departments Directed To Present Draft Legislation On Seminaries

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th August, 2016) : Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Auqaf and Religious Affairs, Habib-ur-Rehman Wednesday directed the departments of Law and Industries for presenting draft of the legislation on religious seminaries' registration. He assured the House that a meeting for this purpose will be convened soon. The provincial minister issued these directives while responding to a question of Najma Shaheen of JUI-F and supplementary questions of Mufti Said Janan during the question-hour of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly session. In the written reply, the House was told that the number of registered seminaries in the province was 1,597 while the Names, addresses and their audit reports were also available.
The provincial minister said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had not amended the Registration Act of seminaries as the decision was taken by the Federal government.
He said the concerned Standing Committee of the House had been directed for formulating the legislation and restoring the old procedure of registration. Mufti Said Janan of JUI-F pleaded before the chair to direct the concerned departments for presenting legislation in the provincial assembly. The speaker directed the convening of the meeting of standing committee.
