Judges, Islamabad police decide steps to beef up security at IHC

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th August, 2016) : Judges of Islamabad High Court met with Islamabad police officials on Wednesday to take steps for beefing up security at premises of Islamabad High Court. The meeting was chaired by Justice Athar Minallah and attended by IHC Judge Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb, Registrar Islamabad High Court Ateeq ur Rehman, District and Session Judge (East) Sohail Ikram, District and Session Judge (West) Kamran Basharat Mufti, Inspector General Islamabad Police Tariq Masood Yasin, Deputy Commissioner ICT Captain (R) Mushtaq Ahmed, SSPs Security and Operations Islamabad, President Islamabad High Court Bar Association Tariq Mehmood Jehangiri, General Secretary Islamabad High Court Bar Association Muhammad Zafar Khokhar and Deputy Registrar Admn Imran Sikandari. During the meeting, the security arrangements for Islamabad High Court, subordinate district courts and special courts were reviewed.

At the beginning of the meeting, Registrar Islamabad High Court and District and Session Judges highlighted the security issues faced by district and special courts particularly the shortage of security personnel and other facilities. District and Session Judges also pointed out security issues which needed to be immediately resolved. The participants considered suggestions for effective security of judges and lawyers. After detailed consideration of the suggestions, Justice Athar Minhallah issued directions to IG Islamabad and SSP Operations to take steps to improve security of judges and lawyers and deploy more police personnel. The judge instructed that without any delay walk through gates and CCTV cameras should be installed and it is made sure that this equipment is properly utilised for keeping constant security. c
