PA body to address problem of unchecked gas distribution

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th August, 2016) : The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Wednesday agreed to form a committee under the chairmanship of Speaker Asad Qaiser to address the problem of southern districts' people due to unchecked use of gas distribution and other natural resources there. The motion was brought in the house by Mufti Said Janan of JUI-F through an adjournment motion which the house adopted for debate under rules 48 of provincial assembly. The mover contended that a sense of deprivation was emerging among the local population of southern districts because of unchecked use of gas, oil and other matters.

Southern districts are replete with natural resources. Taking the floor Minister for Law Imtiaz Shahid Qureshi said that it is a serious issue which needed to be addressed and suggested formation of a legal committee over the matter, comprising elected members from southern districts and representatives of OGDCL and MOL. Agreeing with the proposal of the minister, the Speaker announced the formation of a committee under his chair which would submit the report within 15 days in the house. Parliamentary leader of PML-N Sardar Aurengzeb Nalota in a call attention notice drew the attention of the house towards the non-payment by the irrigation department to the land owners for construction of a small dam at Kiala Goda Abbotabad.

The government departments also cut the precious trees from the side but no payment has been made to the owners till date. The land owners also made a lot of attempts to stop the work on the dam.

The mover requested the government to make ensure the payment according to the market rate. Irrigation minister Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao informed the house that Rs32.2 million have been given to deputy commissioner for the disbursement among the land owners.

Shah Hussain of JUI-F in his calling attention notice referred to non provision of possession of plots to the allottees of Jalozai housing scheme despite payment of all the installments. He asked as to when the government intends to give possession of plots to allottees.

The Minister for Local Government Inayatullah Khan informed the house that he would arrange a meeting of the respective officials with the allottees of the plots. The mover did not press his motion after getting assurance by the minister.
