ISLAMABAD,(UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Augst,2016) : Rain-thunderstorm (with isolated heavy falls) is expected at a number of places in Kashmir, Punjab, Islamabad, and at scattered places in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP), FATA, upper Sindh and Gilgit Baltistan (GB) during the next 24 hours. Rainfall is expected at Sukkur, Larkana divisions, eastern Balochistan (Zhob, Sibbi, Naseerabad divisions) and Gilgit-Baltistan. Heavy downpour may trigger flash flooding, landslides and GLOF events in the vulnerable areas of Punjab, KP, GB and Kashmir, an official of Met office told APP. Seasonal low lies over north Balochistan.

Yesterday's low pressure area over east Rajasthan (India) is now located over north Rajasthan and its adjoining areas. Under the influence of this weather system strong monsoon currents are penetrating in upper and central parts of the country and likely to continue during next 24 to 36 hours, he said.

In last 24 hours rain-thunderstorm occurred at scattered places in upper Punjab, upper KP, Islamabad and Kashmir, while at isolated places in Mirpurkhas division and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Rainfall recorded during this time span was Punjab: Sialkot (Cantt 94mm, AP 36mm), Mandibahauddin 73mm, Islamabad (Saidpur 71mm, Golra 61mm, Zero point 31mm, Bokra 18mm), Joharabad 64mm, Rawalpindi (Chaklala 58mm, Shamsabad 47mm), Mangla 43mm, Chakwal 41mm, Jhelum 40mm, Noorpurthal 27mm, Sargodha 26mm, Gujranwala 24mm, Bhakkar 21mm, Gujrat, Karma 13, Lahore, Murree 01, KP: Bannu 39, Malamjabba 34mm, Saidu Sharif 16mm, Balakot 06mm, Kakul 03mm, Pattan 01mm, Kashmir: Rawalakot 08mm, Kotli 03mm, Muzaffarabad 01mm, Sindh: Mithi 01mm. Maximum temperatures recorded on Wednesday were Dalbandin 43øC, Nokkundi, Turbat 42øC, Sukkur, Bhakkar 41øC, Multan 38øC, Skardu, Quetta 37øC, Lahore, Faisalabad, Peshawar, Chitral 36øC, Hyderabad 34øC, Hunza, Muzaffarabad 33øC, Kalat, Karachi 32øC, Islamabad, Dir 31øC, Gilgit 27øC and Murree 22øC.
