USPCAS-W to organise national conference on water, environment

HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th May, 2017 ) : The students of U.S.-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Water (USPCAS-W) will organize the two-days long 1st Young Researchers' National Conference on Water and Environment (NCWE) on May 22 and 23, at Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) Jamshoro.

The Vice Chancellor Mehran University, Prof. Dr Muhammad Aslam Uqaili, will be the chief guest at the inaugural session of the conference and Jeffrey L. Ullman, the guest of the honor form University of Utah USA will chair the first plenary session.

The key note speakers of the conference Arif Hassan Khan, the architect and urban planner will deliver talk on the Urbanization Trend and Environmental Issues in Karachi. Another speaker Nadeem Ahmad, Manager Policy and Advocacy in Water Aid will speak on SDGs and Water: Thematic Integration, Implementation and Monitoring of SDG-6.

The Project Director USPCAS-W Dr Bakhshal Khan Lashari informed that the aim of the conference is to provide an ideal academic platform to young researchers and scholars from all over the country to share their latest findings about the water and environment related issues.

The Deputy Director Academics and Research Prof. Dr Rasool Bux Mahar informed that the conference is basically a research paper presentation competition among the students of the country on the different water and environment related themes.

The USPCAS-W student members of the two-day conference organizing committee briefed that the technical sessions of the conference will focus on the different themes of Environment Engineering (Environmental Engineering), Water and Sanitation and Health Sciences, Integrated Water Resource Management and Hydraulics, Irrigation and Drainage.

The organizing committee informed that total 104 abstracts, 72 detailed research papers have been submitted and finally 63 papers accepted includes 11 posters which will be presented in the conference.
