NARC To Assist Farmers For Cultivating Soyabean Over 1,200 Acres

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Augst,2016) : Director General National Agriculture Research Center (NARC), Dr. Azeem Khan here on Wednesday said that NARC would assist farmers of Chakwal region to cultivate soyabean over 1,200 acre of land in order to enhance domestic oil seed production. Talking to a delegation of farmers of Chakwal region headed by Member National Assembly Major (R) Tahir Iqbal, he said that NARC has also introduced potohar peanut seed for enhancing the crop output. Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Pakistan Agriculture Research Council, Dr.
Nadeem Amjad said information regarding use of modern technology was vital for development of agriculture sector and betterment of farmers. PARC scientists was determined to make the country self- sufficient in agriculture production by providing new technologies to the farmers particularly to small farm holdings.
He also highlighted the different programmes and projects initiated by the PARC for the development of agriculture and livestock sectors of the country. He assured the farmers that PARC would provide full support and technical assistance to formers of the region in adoptions of new technologies of cultivation and crop management to increase the production of peanut, nuts, mash, mustard, canola and soyabeen. He further said PARC scientists have also introduced a modern peanut dryer and grading machine which could help to reduce 35 percent post harvest loss of peanut crop. The innovative peanut dryer would enable the farmers to sell there produces timely in open market at a reasonable price, he added. On the occasion, Major (R) Tahir Iqbal along with farmers visited different research fields of PARC and examined the 300 acre field of peanut.
