Police close down Jamaat relief camp in Baramulla Hosptial

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Augst,2016) : Authorities in Indian occupied Kashmir have forced the volunteers of Jamaat-e-Islami to close down their relief camp set up in the premises of district hospital in Baramulla, leaving 700 attendants and patients high and dry. Indian police directed the volunteers to cease the relief activities forthwith.

The relief camp was set up on August 12 by the Jamaat and around 700 attendants and patients were being provided lunch and dinner every day, reported KMS. "On Monday we were directed by the police to close the relief camp, otherwise they threatened us of dire consequences" said Manzoor Ahmad, a volunteer running the relief camp.

"Following the threat, we closed the relief activity." As per the record maintained by the volunteers, around 700 attendants and patients were being provided lunch and dinner.

The police action has left hundreds of attendants and patients in great distress. "During these hard days, when all the shops are closed and roads presenting a deserted look, these volunteers took care of us.

They provided us lunch and dinner and even gave us free medicines. Such a gesture saved us from great agony," said Haji Muhammad Ramzan of Uri, who along with his relatives is attending to a patient at Baramulla district hospital.
