WTISD To Be Observed On May 17

HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th May, 2017 ) : The World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD) will be observed here on May 17, with the aim to enhance public awareness about the benefits of communication technology.

The theme for World Telecommunication and Information Society Day 2017 (WTISD-17), is "Big Data for Big Impact," focuses on the power of Big Data for development.

The purpose of WTISD is to help raise awareness of the possibilities that the use of internet and other information and communication technologies (ICT) can bring to societies and economies as well as of ways to bridge the digital divide.

World Telecommunication Day commemorates the founding of the International Telecommunication Union in 1865. The first World Telecommunication Day was celebrated in 1969.
