Govt vows to end loadshedding by 2018: Khaqan

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th August, 2016) : Minister for Petroleum and National Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi Tuesday said the government was committed to end loadshedding by 2018 as it had launched several power, gas and coal projects to overcome energy crisis. Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, who had held several meetings on energy issue, was himself monitoring all the projects to achieve target of overcoming energy loadshedding. There would be surplus electricity in the country by 2018, he told ptv.

The minister said three mega gas projects would be completed in 2017 that would add 3600 MW to national grid. Coal project has launched in Sahiwal would online 1300 MW and it would be completed in September 2017. He said the government was making long term planning and some 25,000 MW energy would be added to the system in upcoming five years.

He said the government was trying to complete all projects as soon as possible to provide uninterrupted power supply at cheaper rates.
