At the outset of the ceremony, the ambassador, members of the Chinese Embassy and other participants observed one minute silence to express condolence and grief over the loss of precious lives in the yesterday's Quetta's blast.

While congratulating the winners for the Chinese Government Scholarship for 2016-17 academic year, the ambassador hoped that they will act as goodwill ambassador of their country while studying in China.

They should serve as a bridge to further strengthen the brotherly relationship. The Chinese Government Scholarship program is a government to government undertaking, and thus it is aimed at benefiting all the regions and the students of Pakistan.

The students are from all over Pakistan, not only from big cities like Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi, Quetta and Peshawar, but also from other cities and towns like Gwadar, Gujranwala, Kamalia, Multan, Swat, Mingora, Sargodha, and Dera Ismail Khan. The students will get educated in different fields in various Chinese Universities, including: Computer Science and Technology, business Administration, Finance, Physical Chemistry, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Broadcasting Communication, International Law, Journalism and so on, covering Bachelor program, Master program, PHD program and Advance Training program.

The ambassador hoped, what they learn in China will prove to be very useful to future development of Pakistan and their hometowns.

The Chinese government has always regarded the people of Pakistan as dear friends, trusted partners, good neighbors and iron brothers. "We attach great importance to cultural and educational exchanges with Pakistan.

Every year, the China Scholarship Council provides 220 Chinese Government Scholarship (Bilateral Program) to Pakistani students, some are for new students and the rest for students already in China," he added.

Ambassador Sun said he was proud to state that this is the largest number of Chinese Government Scholarship for any single South Asian Country. Besides this program, the Ministry of Education in China supports the Chinese universities to establish special funds for the students who want to study in China.

More than 2000 Pakistani students have been awarded the special universities scholarship this year. The ambassador went on to add, China-Pakistan relations have entered a new stage of grand development.

With the successful state visit by President Xi Jinping to Pakistan in April 2015, China and Pakistan are working together for enhancing political mutual trust, expanding economic and trade cooperation and deepening cultural and education exchanges.

With the implementation of projects under China Pakistan Economic Corridor, more and more job opportunities are being created, not just laborers, but also talented professionals. For example, just a few days ago, Port Qasim Coal Fire Power Project recruited hundreds of engineers who would be sent to China for training.

Having been educated in China, and familiar with Chinese technologies and standards, you would have a great competitive edge when facing this kind of opportunity in the coming days. I believe all of you will have a bright future in this regard.
