Data from the Binance cryptocurrency exchange showed that Bitcoin price dropped 1.8% as of 06:18 GMT, trading at $42,000. The lowest price point during the day was about $39,600.
The CoinMarketCap portal showed that Bitcoin was trading at $42,030 after losing 1.89 percentage points in value.
At the start of the month, the cryptocurrency was trading as high as $52,000.
