ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th august,2016) : Pakistan Judo Federation (PJF) has withdrawn the case against Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) in Islamabad High Court as per Lausanne agreement, Secretary PJF Masood Ahmed said on Tuesday. The POA chief Lt Gen (retd) Arif Hasan has asked PJF and Pakistan Cycling Federation (PCF) to withdraw their cases against the POA.
The two federations were intimated they unless they withdraw their cases against the National Olympic Committee, they will not be allowed to become part of this year's National Games, to be held in Quetta.
The PCF had already withdrawn its case against the POA and now the PJF has also followed that precedent. "Yes, we have also withdrawn our case against the POA. Our President Rana Shujaat has also applied for the withdrawal of the case in the court.
Our issue with POA has been settled under the Lausanne agreement," Masood told APP. According to the Lausanne agreement a copy of which is available with this news agency, "All pending cases before the ordinary courts in Pakistan in relation to the POA will be withdrawn with immediate effect, and that any FUTURE sports-related/institutional disputes in relation to the POA will be addressed in accordance with the dispute-resolution mechanisms established in the POA Constitution, in line with the usual practice within the Olympic Movement.
" Masood said that the PJF would now hold its elections for the next term within 60 days as per constitution.
"We want to work with POA in a cordial way, hence we've started preparations to hold elections within due course of time," he said. It may be pointed out here that the PJF, the PCF and the Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP) were inducted again into the Olympic fold on the advice of the International Olympic Committee (IOC)prior to the POA's last elections held in January, this year. Masood said that the PJF had openly supported General (retd) Arif Hassan in the last elections.
