ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th august,2016) : Indian forces in occupied Kashmir, have arrested more than a thousand protesters over the last two weeks in an attempt to stem anti-India demonstrations.
Inspector-General Syed Javaid Mujtaba Gillani says the arrests were made in a bid to end a month of protests in which more than fifty five civilians and thousands of others injured, Kashmir Media Service reported.
Kashmir has been under a security lockdown and curfew since the killing of a popular commander last month that sparked some of the largest protests against Indian rule in recent years. On Monday, tens of thousands of troop's patrolled streets ringed with barbed wire and enforced a curfew in most parts of Kashmir. Shops and schools were closed because of the security crackdown and a protest strike. APP/mon/mtd/ahn
