Pakistan Aims At Strengthening Political, Economic Ties With
ASEAN: Fatemi

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th August, 2016) : Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Syed Tariq Fatemi Monday said Pakistan aimed at strengthening political, trade, and economic ties with ASEAN and stressed the need to increase trade between Pakistan and ASEAN to tap the vast potential. Addressing as chief guest at the ASEAN flag hoisting ceremony and reception on the occasion of 49th Anniversary of the Establishment of ASEAN Community, Fatemi said Association for Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) had emerged as an important regional organization and praised its achievements in political and economic fields.
The event was held at the Malaysian High Commission here. The Special Assistant lauded ASEAN's vision of living in an environment of amity and cooperation among member states. He noted that Pakistan was a member of ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) and hoped to elevate its engagement from Sectoral Dialogue Partnership to Full Dialogue Partnership (FDP) in due course.
