Death Toll Rises To 70 As Another Youth Succumbs In IOK

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th Augst,2016) : A teenager boy identified as Amir Lone, resident of Seedaw area of Shopian succumbed to his injures on Monday bringing the death toll to 70 during the past 31 days of Intifada in Indian Occupied Kashmir. According to KMS, Amir was injured in clashes on 29th July and was being treated at the Soura Institute of Medical Sciences in Srinagar.
Doctors had said his brain was badly damaged after being hit by pellets from a very close range. He was the lone bread earner of his family. With this death, the toll has reached to 70 in firing of pellets and bullets by Indian forces on peaceful protesters since July 8, when Indian troops killed Hizbul Mujahideen commander, Burhan Muzaffar Wani in a fake encounter. Meanwhile, the authorities continued curfew and other restrictions for the 31st consecutive day today across the Kashmir Valley.
Islamabad, Kulgam, Shopian and Pulwama remained under strict curfew, while restrictions continued in force Srinagar, Baramulla and Kupwara districts, police said.
Hurriyet leadership has asked people to block roads leading to the Civil Secretariat in Srinagar and other administrative offices.
Educational institutions, business establishments and public transport remained suspended, today. Almost entire Hurriyet leadership including the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik is either in jail or under house detention. On the other hand, around a dozen civilians, including two women, were injured - two of them critically - after armed forces fired pellets to break up a demonstration in Bijbehara area of Islamabad district today.
The troops barged into several houses in Semthan village of Bijbehara, which triggered protests in the area.
