Cultural institutions finalize Independence Day preparations

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th Augst,2016) : Federal Capital's leading art and cultural organizations have finalized preparations to celebrate Independence Day in a befitting manner.

Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA), Pakistan Academy of Letters, National Book Foundation and National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage, Lok Virsa will hold events of national level engaging youth in various activities. Tableau, skits, national songs and folk dances will be presented for children as part of cultural show at PNCA.

Colourful puppets will portray the history of the Pakistan Movement in the form of stories to grab the attention of the children and educate them about their history. The week-long programmes would focus on the freedom movement, heroes of the Pakistan Movement and the rich culture and traditions of Pakistan through performing art.

Besides depicting the culture and traditions of the country, such shows also educate the youth regarding the struggle of freedom fighters through soft expressions of art, said an official of PNCA. On August 13 August 'Mehfil e Musiki' would be arranged at open air theater at PNCA.

Country renowned artists from all four provinces including Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir would perform in the musical show. A special stage play would also performed on the occasion.

lok virsa would start independence day celebrations from August 11-14.

Executive Director Lok Virsa Dr. Fouzia Saeed said that a Youth Painting Contest titled "Independence Day of Pakistan" will be arranged at the Pakistan Monument Museum.

Lok Virsa Mandwa Film Club will screen the famous film "Jinnah" on August 13 at 6 pm at Lok Virsa Media Centre. An exhibition of Artisans-at-work featuring master crafts people in various craft areas such as truck art, mirror work, doll making, block printing, lacquer art, etc.

will demonstrate their skills for public at Heritage Museum on August 13 from 10 am to 6 pm. Special independence day cake cutting ceremony will take place at the Pakistan Monument Museum on August 14 at 3 pm. A live performance by newly established Lok Virsa Folk Dance Group is also scheduled on August 14 at 3.30 pm at Heritage Museum. Lok Virsa will also screen popular "national songs" on multi media projectors on 14th August at both the museums.

Lok Virsa premises will be decorated with colourful bunting. While private art galleries, educational institutions and performing art institutions will also arrange a variety of programmes to celebrate the Day in befitting manner. From grand cultural shows to art, speech and songs competition, the programmes will focus on serving the people as informative entertainment through visual narration of historical moments of Pakistan Movement and the struggle of freedom fighters.
