10 Die In Ran-related Incidents

KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th August, 2016) : At least 10 people have been killed in rain-related incidents in Karachi since Friday evening. This was stated by the officials of the Edhi Ambulance service on Saturday. They said that eight people died because of electrocution while two were killed in incidents of roof and wall collapse. The rain in the metropolis began on Friday evening and it continued intermittently till Saturday afternoon. As the rain water accumulated in various areas of the city, the people working in private offices faced difficulties. The flow of traffic was also affected in the city owing to the accumulation of rain water on various thoroughfares. The electricity system in Karachi was also badly hit because of the rain.
The power outage in different localities also perturbed the Karachiites. According to K Electric official out of 1,400 feeders, some 250 were affected because of rain.
He maintained that 140 of these feeders had been restored. Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah, visited several areas of the city on Saturday morning. He reviewed the situation arising out of the downpour in the metropolis and directed the concerned officials to make prompt arrangements for draining out the accumulated rain water. The Chief Minister also called the chief executive of the K Electric asking him for prompt steps for restoring the electricity in the affected areas.
