Senate Observes Its Founding Day As Lawmakers Seek More Powers

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th August, 2016) : The 44th foundation day of Senate of Pakistan was celebrate on Friday with lawmakers paying tributes to the founding fathers of the Upper House besides calling to making it more powerful.
Chairman Senate Raza Rabbani had convened a special session of the Senate.
On the 6th of August 1973, founding fathers of the Senate took oath as members of the Upper House of the Parliament. Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, a number of former chairmen, deputy chairmen including Nayyer Hussain Bukhari, Chaudhry Aslam, Mir Jan Muhammad Jamali, Sabir Baloch and Commander Khalil were also present in the gallery to witness the proceedings of the House.
