Children get polio drops in Tirah after eight years

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th August, 2016) : Polio drops were administered to children below the age of 5 years in Takhtaki area of Tirah valley in Khyber Agency after a gap of eight years in a vaccination campaign. According to Polio Monitoring Cell, 67 children from 36 houses in the area were administered polio drops in the three-day campaign, 25 polio workers participated in the campaign.

Pakistan and Afghanistan are the only two countries in the world where polio is still categorised as endemic viral infection. However, situation has improved considerably in Pakistan after military operations in tribal areas of Pakistan and refusal cases have reduced significantly.
