MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 06th May, 2021) Maldivian parliament speaker Mohamed Nasheed, who is also the country's former president, has been injured in an explosion that took place in Male, local police said on Thursday.
"Following an explosion on Neeloafaru Magu in Male, Speaker of Parliament President Mohamed Nasheed has sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment at ADK Hospital," police tweeted.
Officers are currently working on the scene and ask the public not to enter the impacted area until further notice.
According to local newspaper Sun Online, the blast occurred near Nasheed's home and injured two other people � his bodyguard and a bystander, who was identified as a foreign citizen.
