Eight Hospitals Across India Receive Russian Medical Aid - Embassy

Medical supplies donated by Russia to India in support of the country's efforts in combating the COVID-19 pandemic were delivered to eight facilities across the country, the Indian embassy in Moscow told Sputnik on Thursday

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 06th May, 2021) Medical supplies donated by Russia to India in support of the country's efforts in combating the COVID-19 pandemic were delivered to eight facilities across the country, the Indian embassy in Moscow told Sputnik on Thursday.

According to the diplomatic mission, the aid was distributed among eight hospitals in New Delhi, Uttarkhand, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana states.

"The Embassy and the people of India express their gratitude to Russia for the aid," the embassy said.

In late April, Russia sent about 22 tonnes of medical supplies, including oxygen generating equipment and medicines, to coronavirus-stricken India. The country currently comes second in rhe number of confirmed COVID-19 cases with over 20 million patients, following the United States.

On Thursday, the Indian Health Ministry reported 412,262 new COVID-19 cases within the past 24 hours, marking the largest daily increase since the start of the outbreak. Within the same period of time, the death toll increased by 3,980, reaching 230,168 people.
