UVAS inks MoU with UMT to promote collaborative relationship in Research, Development & Innovation

The Department of Parasitology of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore andSchool of Textile and Design of theUniversity of Management and Technology, Lahore (UMT)signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) topromote collaborative relationship in Research, Development & Innovation

LAHORE (Pakistan Point News - 6th April, 2021) The Department of Parasitology of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore andSchool of Textile and Design of theUniversity of Management and Technology, Lahore (UMT)signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) topromote collaborative relationship in Research, Development & Innovation.
UVAS Pro Vice-Chancellor/Dean Faculty of Veterinary Science Prof DrMasoodRabbani, Chairman Department of Parasitology Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf and Director Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC)DrFarhanJamil from UVAS and Dean School of Textile and DesignProf DrMumtazHasan Malik,Associate Prof DrMudassar Abbas and Director (ORIC)MrAbid H K Sherwanifrom UMTsigned the MoU in a ceremony held at the UVAS City Campus while UVAS faculty members Prof DrImran Rasheed and Dr Muhammad Oneeb were present.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof DrMasoodRabbani said that UVAS is working closely with livestock, poultry and dairy industry to developing their business and providing advisory services for the uplift of farming community.Prof Rabbani also showed a UVAS video documentary to the UMT delegation to give an overview of UVAS research, development interventions and student strength along with national and international collaboration.Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf spoke about the objectives of MoU while Prof DrMumtazHasan Malik briefed the participants regarding the project.
Under the MOU,the School of Textile and Design will collaborate with UVAS for laboratory testing and field trials of vector protective textiles, particularly the mosquito-repellent cloth for safeguarding the human beings from mosquito bites. UVAS Department of Parasitology having vast experience in controlling the vectors, particularly mosquitoeswill carry out efficacy tests on repellents for textiles for vector protection by UMT by running laboratory and field trials under different mosquito densities. Both the partieswill promote effective use of each other’s resources and provide each other with enhanced opportunities for mutual gains.The objectives of the MoU were to create a strategic alliance and linkage in research,development and innovation.Both the parties will also collaborate in helping students in their research projects andnew business startups.
