PM vows to bring revolution to Pakistan’s agriculture sector

Prime Minister Imran who has inaugurated low cost housing project in Raiwind says that agriculture sector has not been given much importance over last 50 years.

KARACHI: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-May 6th, 2021) Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday vowed to bring about a revolution in Pakistan’s agriculture sector.

Imran Khan said that agriculture sector was not given much importance in the past 50 years.

“But you can see that the farmers have been paid their all dues over the past two years,” said the PM, pointing out that they gave importance to the farmers now.

The PM said: “No one has given them their due payments. And all we have done is that we have given them their dues over the past two days,”.

“Today you can see that the weight yield is at a record high as per our assessments,”.

He expressed these words during a ceremony held in connection with inauguration of low cost housing project at Raiwind.

The Prime Minister said that they were stabilizing the economy but now their focus was on agriculture.

“I’m personally looking at it and I’ll will prove to you by bringing about a major revolution in agriculture,” said the PM adding that

as per the government's estimates, rice and corn yields this year will also break records.

He talked about the housing sector, lamenting how the common man was unable to afford houses or places of shelter for themselves.

The PM also came down hard upon the opposition, saying that all those who ruled this country for last 30 years were not ready for accountability.

“They made a union in the name of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) in order to escape accountability,” said Imran Khan, pointing out that there was a no concept of holding the powerful accountable.

During his address, he also paid homage to the Holy Prophet Peace Be Upon Him, saying that the principles on which the State of Medinah was established were shining example for governments across the globe even today.

“The Holy Quran has ordered us to follow his (Holy Prophet Peace Be Upon Him) path, because it is a success story,” said Imran Khan.

He said that the passing of the foreclosure law had made it possible for banks to provide loans to the people, adding that this was not previously so.

He stated that the government had introduced the housing scheme so that salaried people and those belonging to the working class could be able to afford houses for themselves.

He criticized the successive governments, saying that they never thought about providing low-cost housing projects for the poor.

“It will lead to a positive effect on other industries if Pakistan’s housing sector booms,” the PM said, adding that there were 30 sectors which were linked to the housing sector. He stated that Pakistan's economy would benefit once the houses were constructed as people would then avail services from other sectors once the construction is completed.

PM Imran Khan said tourism sector enough to earn more revenue for Pakistan than exports

Speaking about the tourism sector, he said it was unfortunate no one had previously given thought to it despite its massive potential.

“Pakistan's tourism sector alone has the potential to earn even more for the country than its exports,” he added.
