German Delegation Visits SSU Headquarters

KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Augst,2016) : A 6-member Assessment Mission of German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) led by Richard Miles visited Special Security Unit Sindh (SSU) of Sindh Police. The delegation lauded the professional standard maintained during the course of work in management, administration and counter terrorism operations by the SSU, said a statement issued here on Friday.
The Assessment Mission including David Morgen, Ali Javed, Susan Loughhead, Erum Zehra and Maren Baisch is currently visiting the country on "Support for Capacity Development in the Criminal Investigative Services (CIS) Programme" in Pakistan.
The programme aims to enhance the institutional and human resource capacities in the criminal investigative services of Pakistan including Police and Public Prosecutors of Sindh and Punjab.
The delegation was briefed in detail about the functioning of various sections of the SSU by Commandant, SSU, Maqsood Ahmed.
Commandant, SSU, informed the delegation about the measures adopted to setup country's first Special Weapons and Tactics (S.W.A.T) team in SSU, issuance of ISO certificate by UKAS Britain to SSU for performing Counter Terrorism Operations, Provision of Foolproof Security to Foreign Dignitaries and Vital Installations. The delegation appreciated the efforts for establishing a well-trained law enforcement unit in the Sindh Police. The Commandant further informed that the commandos including lady commandos of S.W.A.T team equipped with latest weapons and communication system remained alert round the clock as quick response force to challenge any emergency situation if created by the terrorists/hardened criminals.
The commandos of SSU are having professional capabilities to foil nefarious designs of the terrorists and eliminate the menace of terrorism, he added.
