178 Corruption Scams Unearthed During Present Govt Tenure: Law Ministry

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Augst,2016) : National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has taken cognizance of many cases and unearthed 178 corruption scams during the tenure of present government.
Of the total scams, the seven Regional Bureaus of NAB have conducted 68 inquiries, 55 investigations and prepared 55 references for courts during the period. A data issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice here on Friday showed that cases of Rs.
100 million and above are considered as Major Scams related to fields including Housing Societies, Modarba, Over pricing of drugs and misuse of powers and loss to national exchequer. The NAB is an Anti-Corruption Organization and its Primary job is to eliminate corruption from the country.
Regional Bureau-wise details of said major scams and their present position have showed that Rawalpindi Bureau unearthed total 38 scams out of which 21 were inquiries, 06 were investigations and 11 were references.
The status of Lahore Bureau was 41 scams out of which 09 were inquiries, 15 investigations and 17 references. Peshawar unearthed 38 scams and out of which 06 inquiries, 16 investigations and 16 references. The cases' status of Karachi Bureau was 23 scams out of which 10 were inquiries, 07 investigation and 06 references. The cases' status of Quetta Bureau was 11 scams out of which 02 were inquiries, 07 investigation and 02 references. The cases' status of Sukkur Bureau was 21 scams out of which 18 were inquiries, 03 investigations and no reference was prepared. The cases's status of Multan Bureau was 06 scams out of which 02 were inquiries, one investigation and 03 references.
